The annual fair is in town. The Fair is now in its the 36th year and was originally set up by the chamber
of trade to increase trade in the town in an exceptionally quiet period of time.
Times do change and in recent years the Fair has become a celebration of local people, fun and friendship.
Any reference to a Medieval Fair is long gone and the committee who are few have tried to bring a little
light hearted entertainment and fun to Alnwick to brighten up the somewhat damp days we and the rest of the
country are experiencing at the moment! We can't and wont promise that the Fair will be to everyones taste
as it impossible to please everyone. We can but try! More recently the Fair has been able to help local
charitable causes, earlier in 2007 we held a Twelfth Night Ball hosted at
Alnwick Gardens, funds raised are to be donated to the British Heart Foundation.
The Duchess High School Choir have also benefited from Alnwick Fair in aid of their trip to Canada in July 2007.
Alnwick International Music Festival will also receive a contribution towards entertainment.

To a lot of people, at first sight this medieval castle can seem foreboding, and certainly its history
has plenty in drama and intrigue. You may recognise the castle as a film location, for such films as
Elizabeth, Becket, Blackadder and Harry Potter.
Today Alnwick Castle is very much a living castle, at the heart of thriving estates and businesses;
and is still a family home, as it has been for nearly seven hundred years.
